GTIIT Cultural Life

PostTime::3/5/2026

As spring comes, the cultural life on campus at Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) is thriving with the vibrant energy of the season. Students have honed their willpower through persistent exercise, sparked intellectual collisions in strategic games, demonstrated wisdom in heated debates, and released their passion through free dancing, collectively weaving memories filled with energy and laughter.

Rhythm in running, joy in company

Every Monday and Friday evening, three pace groups of GTIIT Running Association (5:30/km, 6:30/km, and 7:30/km) set off on time. The 30-minute campus loop and seven weeks of persistence have moved students in ways that go far beyond the run itself.

Falling in love with running might only take a moment: the careful guidance from seniors during warm-ups, the evening breeze blowing against them as they run, the slight saltiness of sweat trickling down their cheeks, the mutual encouragement and care among teammates, or the comfort of grabbing a meal together after exhaustion and enjoying a bowl of warm congee. Structured pace running has helped many students gradually find their own rhythm in their ordinary lives.

If the regular jog is a 30-minute "warm loop around campus", then long-distance endurance running is a breakthrough of one's limit. The group run featured four pace groups, supplemented with energy gels, salt tablets, electrolyte drinks, and water, providing ample energy support for every runner.

Veteran team members took the initiative to serve as pacers, carefully controlling the pace range and leading everyone steadily forward. Many students tried long-distance running for the first time, initially joining with a "let's give it a try" attitude, only to end up setting their personal distance records. "Whenever we see the brilliance of the sunset and the clouds, we are sure that, the answers to all our questions lie on the road ahead," said the runners.

"Board Game Night" lit up the campus

The auditorium at the South Campus was brightly lit and filled with laughter as the Chess Club's "Board Game Night" unfolded in full swing. The activity provided a relaxed and enjoyable platform for communication, allowing students to experience the charm of strategic gameplay and teamwork through a variety of board games.

Dozens of popular board games were prepared for the event, ranging from logic-testing games, resource-planning games, to lighthearted options. The diverse selection catered to the varied interests of all students. Chess Club members arranged the venue in advance, dividing it into multiple gaming zones to ensure the activity run smoothly.

As students arrived, gaming circles quickly formed. Participants freely formed teams and chose their favorite games. In the strategy game zone, players concentrated and planned carefully, while the fun game zone was filled with laughter and ease. Chess Club members moved between groups, explaining rules and providing support to ensure seamless gameplay. Students not only enjoyed the thrill of brainstorming but also built connections through it.

The event lasted nearly three hours, and many were still eager for more when it concluded. With careful organization and a rich selection of games, "Board Game Night" created a space that was both entertaining and challenging, allowing students to enjoy an unforgettable evening in a joyful atmosphere.

Thrilling Debates on Stage

Guided by the GTIIT Youth League Committee and organized by the Debate Team, the final and exhibition match of the third GTIIT Freshmen Debate Competition was held in the Auditorium of the South Campus. The event attracted over a hundred teachers and students, creating a lively atmosphere filled with intellectual sparks.

Launched for the Class of 2025, the Freshmen Debate Competition aimed to provide a platform for students to showcase their expression skills, exercise logical thinking, and foster teamwork. After preliminary and quarterfinal rounds, two teams—"When the Stars of Human-like Shine" and "Just Hold It In Team"—advanced to the final. The debate topic was, "We've all been set up by capital / There aren't that many setups—it's your own problem." The debaters engaged in a dynamic exchange of ideas, showcasing unique perspectives and eloquent debating skills.

Random dance ignites the campus night

The South Campus sports field transformed into an open-air dance floor, brimming with youthful energy. Hosted by the GTIIT Youth League Committee and co-organized by the Music Club, Street Dancing Club, and Anime Club, the "Random Dance" event attracted about 100 students, lighting up the campus night with their dynamic moves.

As hit K-Pop and anime dance songs played one after another, students rushed from the sidelines to the center of the dance floor. Whether it was synchronized dancing with precise timing or freestyle performances, each was met with rounds of applause and cheers, embodying the "free, open, and inclusive" spirit of random dance.
